End of Benching: Red Lions’ Rebuilding Blocks for Glory

REACHING back for active sports in San Beda College Alabang, the Red Lions Varsity Teams began recruitment over July in hopes of refilling their rosters with fresh team-players to secure collegiate championships once more. Due to the pandemic halting all physical activities, the situation has taken a toll on SBCA’ top sports teams, leaving two years of no new recruits and games left teams hungry for action.

Philippines Crossed Over from Gloom to Glee

GILAS Pilipinas came back to the field last June 30 for the last window of the first round, seeking redemption against New Zealand Tallies in Auckland after losing their first game against the Tallies last Feb. 27. The Philippine team eyed for another win against the visiting Young Cagers (India) in Mall of Asia Arena last July 3 where they redeemed themselves and scored another victory against India. The FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers’ first round started with 16 teams last February 2021, continued in November 2021, and came to its end last July 5, 2022.

NCAA 97: Resurgence after the Hiatus

TAGLINED as “Stronger Together. Buo ang Puso”, the 97th Season of the National Collegiate Association of the Philippines (NCAA) commenced on Mar. 26. It signaled the much-awaited return of Men’s Basketball and Women’s Volleyball Tournaments and also the chess and taekwondo tournaments. This season is hosted by De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde (CSB). It was originally set to launch on Mar. 5, but was later pushed back on the 26th to give the athletes more time to prepare.

CONQuest Festival 2022: A Year to Conquer

GEARING up for this year’s CONQuest Festival which will be held on the 23rd and 24th of July in SMX Convention Center Manila, AcadArena will host the prominent gaming and pop culture convention. It will be a weekend filled with gaming, live music, industry panels, booths, and more. AcadArena will also cover the grand finale of the Alliance Games (A-Games).

Pakitang GILAS at the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

CURRENTLY hailed as the national basketball team of the Philippines, Gilas Pilipinas proudly represented the country at the FIBA (Federation Internationale de Basketball Amateur) Basketball World Cup 2023: Asian Qualifiers which commenced on Aug. 31, 2021 and will end on Aug. 25, 2023. FIBA opens the Asian Qualifiers to 16 teams from Asia-Oceania regions during six “Windows” qualifying games to qualify seven teams to the World Cup that will take place in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan.

Obiena’s Victorious Leap to the Orlen Copernicus Cup 2022

FILIPINO Olympian pole vaulter Ernest John “EJ” Obiena dominates the world ranking of Orlen Copernicus Cup 2022 in Poland. He successfully took home two gold medals last Feb. 22 after battling against different athletes from Brazil, Belgium, and Netherlands. The international competition was streamed through different platforms like Youtube, and also on television in some countries.

Teams Build Dreams

STEPPING up the gaming experience for Filipino gamers, Riot Games and Mineski which are among the country’s premier esports organizations, hosted the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) 2022: Philippines Stage 1 Challengers. The event was held from Feb. 10 until Feb. 27, sponsored by ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG).

Blacklist International 2021 M3 World Champions

VICTORY is in sight for Blacklist International with players Johnmar Villaluna (OhMyV33nus), Danerie James Del Rosario (Wise), Kiel Calvin Q. Soriano (OHEB), Edward Jay Dapadap (Edward), Salic Alauya Imam (Hadji), Dexstar Louise Cruz Alaba (Dex Star), and Mark Jayson Gerardo (ESON), along with 16 teams that showed their skills in Moonton’s 2021 M3 World Championship held last Dec. 6 to 19 wherein teams coming from eight regions competed to be the next champion of MLBB (Mobile Legends Bang Bang) and get the prize pool of $800,000 (PHP 41,058,760).
