Intramurals 2023 concludes with a bang

By Jessica Louise Cruz |  June 20, 2023

LAST June 2, the College capped off the 2023 Intramurals with performances from the Megacrew dance competition, exciting ball games championship, and the closing ceremony.

Game On!

A few basketball matches began during the morning to heat up the Bedan community. The first match kicked off between All-Star Players from different departments and alumni athletes from SBCA. The latter led by four points, causing the All-Star players to struggle to widen the point gap. The game concluded with a win for the SBCA alumni, beating the All-Star Players with a 40-point difference.

Shortly after the first game, the Employees Exhibition between the SBCA employees and guests began, where the guests led with five points. Throughout the whole game, the two teams frequently overtook each other until it ended with the victory of the guests over the SBCA employees, leading with seven points.

This was followed by the championship game between the Information Technology department and the Business Management department, which ended with a score of 74-84, respectively.

Been there, Dug that!

In the women’s volleyball championship, the Information Technology department was able to race to 25 first, snagging the title of the winner against Business Management. As for the men’s game, the pressure was on for the Psychology and Education department and the Business Management department. Despite the close match, the Business Management department took home the win by winning over the three sets.

The Mythical Six are John Michael Sanchez (III-BSLM), Jules Mikael Haduca (III-BAIS), Justin Benedict Santos (I-BSIT), Luis Miguel Tesoro (II-BSP), and Al Francis Silva (IV-BSBA-MM) with the Most Valuable Player as Ivan Roi Ibañez (III-BSBA-MM).

Bedans Take On the Stage

As one of the final segments of this year’s intramurals, students were given the chance to show off their dancing skills through the Megacrew Competition hosted by the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. John Paul Domingo, and Fritzen Aldaba (II-BAP). The performances at the event showcased significant symbolisms, choreography, and music, where each department creatively presented a unique style and theme based on their choices in music.

The Bedanz Dance Troupe took the stage for an intermission number before a panel of judges—Mr. Jerome P. Pedernal, Mr. Resty Mikko C. Ibarra, and Mr. Dresmond Joseph Juanillo—announced the winner. Tied in third place, the Legal Management department and Psychology department. The International Studies department placed second and finally, the Business Management department was declared as in the Megacrew Competition.

The first face-to-face Intramurals of the CAS ended with a blast despite the pandemic that halted this fun and competitive tradition. With students getting to show their sportsmanship, talent, and determination in different sports, next year’s Intramurals is definitely something to look forward to.
