CELEBRATING the Year of Prayer, the SBCA Bedan Liturgical Ministries (BLM) and Religious Education Department began Theology week with an opening mass last Nov. 4 at St. Benedict Chapel to receive and be blessed with God’s guidance.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Ephraem B. Molina, OSB, highlighted that people have no choice but to seek their sound and that everything they do must ultimately be done for themselves. “You do the things you do for God,” he said.
This year's theme aligns with Pope Francis' dedication to the year as the "Year of Prayer," emphasizing a renewed understanding of prayer’s essential role for everyone and the church. BLM is committed to furthering this call within the Bedan community, cultivating a more profound spiritual foundation and prayer life.
The events prepared aim to embody the Benedictine motto of “Ora et Labora,” a Latin phrase for prayer and work. This motto is more than just a source of excitement; it reflects St. Benedict’s belief that every task, whether academic or personal, should be grounded in prayer. BLM’s goal for each event is for the students to have a renewed appreciation for prayer as a powerful tool.
The Anima: On the Spot Epistle Writing contest was held at Balcruz Hall on Nov. 6. Dialogue followed this: Theological Debate at the Multi-Purpose Hall and Sophia: Theology Quiz Bee on Nov. 7.
This week is still filled with activities, beginning with Audiam: Song Cover Competition at the Manny Reyes Hall, moved last Nov. 12 due to the suspension of classes. Then, last Nov. 13, Veritas: Theology Hour shall be held at the Rosendo Hall. To culminate the event, Lumen: Theological Short Film and the announcement of winners shall be held at the Manny Reyes Hall on Nov. 14.
The theme "Pater Noster: Teach Us to Pray" serves as a guiding principle for the events prepared for this year’s Theology month, and it seeks God's presence and guidance for a successful outcome.
