Rambutan sa Manny Reyes: Bedan Entrepreneurs Society Members Onboarding

WITH a makeshift ring in the center of the Manny Reyes Hall and rambutan served to the students of entrepreneurship, the Bedan Entrepreneurs Society (BES) held their General Assembly last Oct. 18. The theme, “Rambutan: Bedan Entrepreneurs Society Members Onboarding” is a tongue-in-cheek reference among the officers of the organization; reminiscing on many different rambulan trends during the pandemic and then later becoming online rambulan.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Andres Ignacio C. San Mateo, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted how entrepreneurship plays a critical role in the progress of society. “Some countries are more developed because every business-minded person is challenged to be creative, valued, and see what others could not see,” he said. Dr. San Mateo concluded by stating that resilience and social responsibility are also part of the life of entrepreneurship.

“I  genuinely saw the officers in BES, their passion, authenticity, and their drive to do great things not only for the school and organization but for their fellow students, to succeed in their businesses and to be part of this solid effort of entrepreneurs where positivity and growth mindset is at its core,” Atty. Ryan Cancio, moderator of BES, proudly expressed after introducing the new set of officers for this academic year. Furthermore, he stressed that the organization is more than willing to accept criticisms and feedback from the students they serve.

The President, Juan Dulce (IV-BSE), highlighted the importance of collaboration and having a united society that fosters relationships, connections, and support beyond academics. He also said, “With our strengths, collaborating with each other, naniniwala ako na may Kasabian, let's make an idea into a reality.” Moreover, he said that BES thinks as a society, as they are all what makes it.

Then, the officers headed by Dulce, Francis Manding (IV-BSE), Internal Vice President, and John Saulog (IV-BSE), External Vice President, presented their upcoming events. They proposed hosting a business seminar or convention at the SMX Convention Center. Another is Digital Entrepreneur Hub, which would focus more on e-commerce workshops on online business and expansion to digital marketing. Moreover, BES plans to have a sports festival focusing on team sports such as basketball and volleyball to build connections and act as a fundraiser for the organization and its outreach program.

The organization also plans to continue last year's Car Show Auto Fest. Lastly, they proposed a Business Plan Competition open to other schools to provide an avenue for networking and building a community outside of SBCA.

To highlight the participation of entrepreneurship students as “team members” and the event as an onboarding event, the attendees were divided into four groups to brainstorm and suggest their ideas for the upcoming projects.

The Bedan Entrepreneur Society Members Onboarding aims to be different from the ordinary General Assembly by being an onboarding event that maximizes the participation of entrepreneurship students, given the small program population.
