HOBBIES are consistent activities that are done for enjoyment. But, what if you are having a difficulty in committing to do something, as you are still struggling to fuel your life with determination and enthusiasm? You have not yet discovered the ways that would make your heart thump because you are still seeking what would contribute joy and excitement in your everyday life, searching for the right pursuits to direct and exert your energies in your life. Let this be your guide to help unlock your capabilities and potentials through self-awareness and by incorporating hobbies and interests in your life.
Look from Within
As you go through life, your preferences could stay still. The fondness you have for certain things can grow or it can also be changed over time. The way you view life when you were younger may not be the same as how you view things in the present. The hobbies you usually do for enjoyment before may not serve you satisfaction anymore in the present, because perhaps you give greater importance to other things — resulting in changes to your priorities and you realized you want to work something within yourself, in order for you to attain your aspirations.
Just Do It, for Yourself
An individual’s core identities are often associated with the interests they choose to pursue. Trying to get in touch with your interests will help you to get to know yourself more. Allow yourself to engage in activities that spark your joy, or even curiosity; It will be an enthralling way to discover your behavior, values, and skills as you engage in those activities. You can revisit the hobbies you once enjoyed before and rekindle that passion you once had; it will guide you to trace your inspirations and aspirations in life. You can also try honing your skills until you will finally own them; challenge yourself on the skills that need improvement. You can go learn something new and, eventually, you will thank yourself for giving him/her/them a chance.
Low Intensity, High Consistency
Participating in hobbies allows you to enhance your skills by allocating time to master those skills. Practice enables one to make progress over time, and eventually find a way to perfection; but you need to keep on working through it gradually in order for your ability to be maintained. It takes conscious effort to have clarity on what patterns of behavior over time must be done. Commit to following a pattern that highlights the goal.
A Break from Break
Even though your hobbies are for recreational purposes, taking a break from your hobbies is also essential, so that you would not get tired from doing it. Acknowledging that taking a pause when an activity becomes tiring or overwhelming is as important as the time allotted for productivity. A recharged version of you will enable you to function well and appreciate the activities in your life more so than before because you did not deprive yourself to get that rest you truly need and deserve.
Rediscovering Self and Life
Your hobbies and interests are only a part of you, and you are more than what you do. Check for yourself from time to time; your hobbies and interests must help you relax from your everyday hustles. It should serve as a safe space from the otherwise busy world of ours. As life goes on, you too, do the same. Life is a process, and you are a work in progress. Enjoy the process by appreciating your progress, little by little each day. Every day, you have the power to learn more about yourself, as you live.
Remember, it is your life and you have the power to control your actions, and it should not be the other way around. You do not need to be pressured to limit yourself with the hobbies you usually do. You have the freedom whether to keep that hobby or to drop it; even for a while. You can also choose to go back to what you had started before, and re-work on incorporating that hobby into your life again. Also, you can have many hobbies, because eventually, curiosity arises to get you through to living. There could be a strong desire to explore for more and insist on the activities that capture your interest. You can always add and pick up other activities to include in your life, as you may possibly realize that you can learn through various ways in life.
“REMEMBER what I said about finding meaningful life—devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.” This quote was featured in the book “Tuesdays with Morrie” written by Mitch Albom. You can find inspiration as you look within yourself, and by allowing yourself to also appreciate other people’s growth. And as you live, you can create your purpose and meaning— with the sum of all the efforts you do for your life, aiming to be better each day.
