By Kianna Hugo |  October 18, 2021

CRANKING UP the new academic year, the Student Executive Council (SEC) and Council of Student Leaders (CSL) organized “WebCAS” which served as the General Assembly of the students of the CAS. The event was live streamed on the official Facebook page of the SEC last July 29.

As a Bedan Model

The event hosts were Francesca Medina (II-BAP), SEC 2nd Year Level Representative, and Krystine Respeto (IV-BSP), SEC External Vice President. Mariel Reformo (III-BSA), SEC Auditor, led the invocation. Dean Ryan Sicat, Ph.D. delivered the welcoming remarks and thanked both the new and old students for pursuing their tertiary education in the CAS. Sicat discussed the co-curricular activities on offer and encouraged students to join recognized organizations as well as participate in various activities and programs. He emphasized that one must think and act as a Bedan and students should be willing to be educated the Bedan way.

Learning with Responsibilities

An icebreaker was facilitated by SEC 4th Year Level Representative, Samtah Ducut (IV-BSP), and SEC 3rd Year Level Representative, Ezekiel Fernandez (III-BSE). Sophia Dayao (III-BSA), SEC Treasurer, subsequently introduced the Administrators of the CAS for Academic Year 2021 to 2022. A welcome video by the SEC exhorted students to work together and stand united as it encouraged the establishment of harmonious relationships for the entire CAS community to thrive.

The updated Flexible Learning Delivery (FLD) policies were presented by SEC Secretary Lyan Cabral (IV-BSFM) and SEC Internal Vice President Joshtin Reformo (III-BSA). Additionally, student discipline policies were discussed to ensure that the virtual classrooms would remain to be conducive places of learning. It was likewise announced that the Student Handbook, as well as other important policy documents, would be accessible via E-BEDAN, the official learning management system of the CAS.

An Exciting Beginning

A calendar of activities was also shown in anticipation of important future events such as examination dates, the semestral break, and holidays. Ample time was apportioned among the different extracurricular organizations to properly introduce themselves, primarily through videos, to those who may wish to join their groups. Capping off the event were the closing remarks of Alexandra Anadon (III-BSBA-MM), SEC President, wherein she expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of WebCAS. Lewis and Pearl, Shift Cafe, and Camsbucha Cafe sponsored the event.
