IN CELEBRATION of the 50th Year Anniversary of San Beda College Alabang (SBCA), the “Bene Beda Balik-Saya: Isang Pasasalamat” concert was held to honor the alumni and retirees for their years of service within the institution. Featuring one of the Philippines’ renowned chorale groups, the University of the Philippines Singing Ambassadors (UPSA) certainly made Oct. 15 a night to remember.
With Ms. Aprille Rementilla hosting the event, the Tugade Auditorium was filled with SBCA alumni, CAS faculty and staff, Council of Student Leaders, students, and parent officers. After three songs, Dr. Edgardo L. Manguiat, the musical director of UPSA, took the mic and dedicated a song for the audience. “This time we’d like to give you a prayer and I know it is a very good time for us to meditate and live our lives and our kababayan and mahal sa buhay, Prayer of St. Francis.”
Fr. Gerardo Ma. De Villa, OSB Rector-President, gave a short yet heartwarming speech of acknowledgement to the attendees,“We are truly honored and grateful to the members of the board of trustees of SBCA, headed by Mr. Roman Felipe Reyes, for gracing this jubilee celebration that honors the members, not only of the Bedan academic community but all those members who have worked so hard over the decades to make San Beda College what it is today. And this is possible because of the many men and women who we honor today,” he said.
As the event reached its end, Dr. Andres Ignacio C. San Mateo Jr., the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA), passed a bouquet to Dr. Edgardo L. Manguiat. He also thanked the performers as Ms. Rementilla concluded the event.
Continuing the golden celebration, on Dec. 3, 2022, the “Beda Singkwenta: 2022 Grand Alumni Homecoming and Golden Jubilee Celebration” was held at Fr. Bellarmine gymnasium. The event was organized by the batch of 1997, with the batch of 1972 who joined and watched the night filled with entertainment.
Looking back, the Bedan community would not reach its place today without the help of the people that served as the foundation of the institution. What was deemed to be a memorable jubilee celebration became something more. As mentioned by Fr. De Villa, it was “truly a golden experience.”
