LAST Feb. 9, the queens of the San Beda College Alabang Bedanz Dance Troupe fiercely claimed the title of champions at the 2025 Women's National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) Street Dance Competition – Seniors Division, held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.
The 2025 WNCAA Street Dance Competition wowed audiences and supporters alike as they welcomed 13 competing schools to go head-to-head. The competition was divided into two divisions: The Junior Division consisted of Assumption College of San Lorenzo, UST Angelicum College, La Salle College Antipolo, St. Scholastica’s College, Assumption Antipolo, Chiang Kai Shek College, and De La Salle Zobel.
The Seniors Division featured the University of Asia and the Pacific, University of Makati, Miriam College, San Beda College Alabang, Centro Escolar University, St. Scholastica’s College, Philippine Women’s University, and Assumption College of San Lorenzo.
The Juniors Division was the first to take the dance floor, with 7 schools battling it out on the center stage. Ultimately, De La Salle Zobel emerged as the champions of the WNCAA Street Dance Competition – Junior Division, while Assumption Antipolo took first runner-up and Assumption College of San Lorenzo bagged second runner-up.
In the Senior Division, the Bedanz Queens brought home the gold after being named champions. Assumption College of Antipolo was named first runner-up, while Miriam College secured second place.
In an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD, Alyssa Lusande (BACMS 3A), the president of the Bedanz Dance Troupe expressed her sincerest gratitude, stating,
“It still feels surreal. Bedanz has really worked hard for the past few months.”
When asked about her thoughts on their win and the sacrifices the team made leading up to the competition, Lusande said,
“We hope that this achievement opens more opportunities for our team, as well as the recognition of Bedanz Dance Troupe as student-athletes in San Beda.”
