LAST August 3, The Bedan Herald (TBH) officially kicked off its 30th volume with a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Bede Chapel, presided over by Fr. Anthony Ma. Mendoza, OSB. Present at the celebration are Prof. Estrella Torres, the current publication adviser, and Prof. Vane Ignacio, the TBH Volume 28 publication adviser.

In his homily, Fr. Anthony expressed how people in the media are at constant risk of danger. He shares that in the search for the truth and the importance of seeking the truth, provocations, and challenges arise in this line of duty. "Seek the truth by admitting long-lasting offenses or wrongdoings that you need to resolve and permitting the mercy of God to enter so that the truth will set us free," Fr. Anthony said.

After the mass, the General Assembly commenced at Bellarmine Hall. The assembly was filled with discussions regarding section guidelines, publication office policies, and the announcement of several activities prepared for the 30th volume.

At the assembly, Sir. Roman Carlos Barredo, the Volume 10 Editor-in-Chief of the publication, now a Values Education professor under the Integrated Basic Education Department of SBCA, was present and shared the publication's history throughout the years. He remarked that during his term as the EIC, it was the first time the school publication was named The Bedan Herald, formerly known as The Benedictine Clarion.

Sir. Roman also discussed the significance of criticisms and how to filter out the lessons that come with them. “Humility to say to yourself that I can always learn something new,” he affirms.

In his remarks about the organization’s future, Sir Roman first recounts his experience as part of the student publication, along with the trials and hardships that came with it. He advises the members on what they can do more for the school community and shares that he wants the publication to grow and develop outside of just being a club.
