WITH a score of 0-3, the SBCA Women’s Volleyball team failed to defend the Lion’s Den after they lost a match against De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) last June 17, held at their home court during the team’s final game at the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) South Season 25.

The Red Lions started the game with determination while exchanging points with DLSL. Both teams were eager to win the first set, with the score surpassing 25 points. After a long period of rallies from both teams, DLSL finished off the first set with a score of 29-31, narrowly surpassing the Red Lions by a two-point margin.

The second set started with DLSL scoring the first point. As the opposing team continuously scored a point throughout the set, the Red Lions struggled to regain momentum. With a 10-point difference, the second set ended with a score of 15-25 in favor of DLSL.

The Red Lions’ consecutive losses in the previous sets heightened their determination to win. With the support of their coach and the Bedan community, the team managed to narrow the gap between DLSL. However, despite continuously blocking the opposing team's attack, the third set finished with an effortless toss by DLSL. With a score of 22-25, the Red Lions could not secure a victory for their final game of the season.

In an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD, Keisha Mhaye Dimatatac (II-BAIS-TOURISM), the team’s captain, shared her thoughts about the team’s defeat. “We still learned a lot from it that will help us to become a better team for the upcoming season,” she said.

The team described their NCAA journey with the word “reload.” Dimataac explained, “It is challenging for us to reload and build up because most of the team is rookies and sophomores.” Even though they have encountered numerous challenges throughout the season, they will carry those lessons they can apply in the next season. For the Red Lions, this season will be an inspiration and a lesson to continue their pride.
