CELEBRATING the secondary parents of every student’s academic journey, a commemoration for World Teacher’s Day was held last Oct. 13 at the Manny Reyes Hall, with the theme ‘Gala Professtars.' The event was organized by the Student Executive Council (SEC),  SBCA Parent and Faculty Council (PFC) and in collaboration with the Bedan Educators' Society (BEdS), Beda.Comm,  Silakbo, Himig Bedista, Bedanz Dance Troupe, and Peer Facilitators' Guild, to honor the professors and teaching staff for their dedication and commitment to their lifelong profession of teaching.

In his introductory remarks, Rector-President Fr. Gerardo Ma. De Villa, OSB, highlighted the significance of the celebration and emphasized its importance: “Today we recognize the essential role that teachers play in shaping the future of our children, The youth and the society which we belong to. And we celebrate their achievements and contributions.” Fr. Gerardo then encouraged everyone to continue supporting their educators, stating, “Let us join forces to support teachers in their mission to provide quality education for all. Teachers are not only educators, but also facilitators, innovators, collaborators, and changemakers. They deserve our respect, admiration, and appreciation.”

Before the event proper, the teachers proceeded to Saint Benedict Chapel for a Thanksgiving Mass. The event was hosted by Jules Mykel Reyes (III-BSBA MM), SEC President, and Archimedes Dingle (II-BSE), SEC Auditor. Professors, Administrators, and  Teaching staff were treated to an array of activities, including games, raffle prizes, heartfelt letters, pictures, and video greetings from various co-curricular and extracurricular organizations, all accompanied by a variety of specially prepared food and refreshments. The teachers were also serenaded by Himig Bedista, and a dance performance was given by the Bedanz Dance Troupe.

In expressing appreciation to his fellow administrators, staff, and colleagues in the faculty, Dr Andres Ignacio C. San Mateo Jr., Vice President of Academic Affairs, emphasized that, in his perspective, professors are an imperative element in educating the youth. The VPAA added, "San Beda College Alabang has been very blessed to have you in the roster of its faculty members. That's the reason why we celebrate Teacher's Day, to thank all of you. I don't think we will be able to achieve something without the contributions and individual efforts of all the faculty members.”
