SBCA Men’s Football Team Secures Hard-Fought Victory Against EAC

By Nicholas Miguel Endencia | April 3, 2025

WITH a final score of 1-0, the SBCA Men’s Futsal Team emerged victorious against Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite (EAC-C) in their match last Apr. 1 at Aboitiz Football Field, Lipa, Batangas.

The first half was intense, with several outs and fouls that kept both teams scoreless. Midway through the game, both teams huddled the plan, each side seeking to fine-tune their approach before proceeding.

Things only seemed to heat up afterward, as Edwin Romero (III-BSBA MM) and a player from EAC-C were issued red cards for retaliating against a foul. The call, however, sparked further debate amid the intense match, with Romero and the team contesting the decision.

In the second half, the dynamic shifted when SBCA Men’s Futsal player Clark Martinez (III-BSIT) scored the solitary goal that sealed the win. As the period advanced, SBCA and EAC-C regrouped again to discuss their game plan, with both teams adapting their tactics to either hold their lead or seek parity. The Red Booters managed to retain their advantage until the final whistle, confirming their win with a score of 1-0.

In an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD, Martinez shared his thoughts regarding their game. “Maayos yung performance ng team. Nakapag-usap kami ng maayos, nakapag-penetrate kami ng maayos sa kalaban. At tulad ng maayos na pag-communication sa loob, nakakuha kami ng panalo,” he said.

Martinez also pointed out his favorite moment, describing how the exceptional set-piece executed by his teammates set him up for the decisive touch that clinched the victory. Although their teamwork significantly contributed to the win, he acknowledged that their stamina eventually became a concern, highlighting the need for the team to improve their endurance, particularly as the match progressed.

When asked about his expectations for the next game, he said, Expectation ko next match parang ngayon lang. Hindi naman kami nag-i-expect na gano'n kataas, pero ginagawa namin yung best namin para sa team and para sa school.”

After their triumph, the SBCA Men’s Football Team is determined to carry this momentum and bring home another win to the den in their next game against UA&P on Apr. 5.
