MARKING a new chapter of leadership and training, the Rotaract Club of SBCA held its Handover and Introduction Ceremony last Jan. 30 at the Rosendo Herrera Hall to present its newly appointed officers and members.

Club moderator Prof. Patrick Boyoc opened the program by welcoming the new officers and members. He expressed his gratitude to the organization for its continued service and reminded the attendees about the true essence of leadership, saying that impact matters more than just title.

In line with Rotaract’s advocacy of establishing relationships through service, the club’s District Representative, John Nicole Dela Cruz, and University Group Project (UGP) President, Evangeline Bedrero, spoke about the essence of camaraderie.

Dela Cruz emphasized the concept of “pagka-ulayaw” or friendship, encouraging the members to build stronger relationships with each other to provide great service. “We must build trust with one another to further engage clubs about the importance of service”, he said.

Meanwhile, Bedrero highlighted the importance of how we can make others feel, noting that this is the key to sustaining leadership and membership. “From what you say or do, how you make other people feel is what they will always remember”, she affirmed.

Membership Chair Cristine Cinco (III-BSMM) presented the club’s 11 new members, who vowed to prepare for their duties guided by past president Joel Aquino. The inductees pledged to uphold the organization’s values of service, brotherhood, and compassion.

12 incoming officers were introduced and took their oath of office, with Maureen Dizon (IV-BSP) being the new President, Dominique De Belen (III-BSLM) as the Internal Vice President, Nikki Biscocho (IV-BAE) as the External Vice President, Sophia Melocoton (II-BSP) as Secretary, Jose Carlo De Mesa (I-BSBA-MM) as Treasurer, Ian Perez (IV-BSA) as Auditor, Renzi Santillan (III-BSBA-MM) as P.R.O, Cristine Cinco (III-BSBA-MM) as the Membership Chair, and Ayeesha Magno (II-BSP) as the Creatives Head. Jewel Rivera (II-BSP) was presented as the second-year level representative with Emmanuel Cruz (III-BSLM) and Rex Costales (IV-BSLM) as third- and fourth-year level representatives, respectively. A pinning ceremony was then held to formally welcome the members and officers.

SBCA Batch 2025 Rotaract president Atashia Casim delivered her outgoing address, “May we create projects that matter, friendships that last, and leaders that inspire,” she stated.

Casim then formally handed the bell, gavel, and banner—symbolizing a transition of responsibility— to incoming president Maureen Dizon. In her inaugural address, Dizon emphasized her commitment to service and encouraged members to lead with full dedication. “I learned that leadership in Rotaract is not about perfection, it is about presence, sincerity, and choosing to show up even when you are afraid”, she reflected.

The ceremony marked the official commencement of service for the newly inducted members and officers of the club.
