AFTER a close match with Colegio de San Juan de Letrán (CSJL), the San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) Men’s Volleyball team won their first game for the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) South Season 25 with a final score of 75-63 held at their home court’s Sports Complex last May 11.

In the first set of the game, the Red Lions had a good start taking the momentum of the match, retaining it almost the entire set, and taking the set point away from CSJL with 25-19.

Both the Red Lions and CSJL fought hard in the second set but to no avail, the SBCA team won 25-23 after a couple of neck-and-neck battles, regardless of their shaky start in the set. In the third set, the Red Lions won with a flawless end with their momentum carrying them to victory and gaining their first-ever point in the season.

Despite some of the referee’s call errors like a false touch net and a false check ball calls during the game, both teams from CSJL and SBCA managed to push through the game even though the CSJL coach was visibly furious with the errors.

In an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD, a starting player, Jom Euard Samson (I-BAIS-T), stated that he was very happy and excited as they won their first game of the season. He added, “Pero actually nakukulangan parin kami sa pinakita namin today kasi alam naming hindi lang ayun yung kaya naming ipakita, so—more efforts sa trainings and give our best everyday.”
