THE Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the official results of the September 2025 Psychologists and Psychometricians Licensure Examination last Oct. 2 with SBCA celebrating the success of 39 board examination passers out of 43 takers. Francesca Medina, batch 2024, ranked ninth in the examination.
According to the PRC, a nationwide total of 12,416 out of 14,275 examinees passed the test, leading to a national passing rate of 86.98 percent. SBCA proudly achieved the passing rate of 90.91 percent, surpassing the national average.
Francesca Medina, Batch 2024 Summa Cum Laude and former Online Content Manager (OCM) of TBH Volume 28, stood out as the leading Bedan passer after securing the ninth spot nationwide in the Psychometricians Licensure Examination.
In an interview, she shared her inspirations, challenges, and journey toward success.“I believe that what I want to do in my life is to be a blessing to other people, and this has been my driving force ever since I took up psychology. My inspiration is always my family,” Medina said.
Medina recalled juggling work and review was one of the hardships she endured, admitting she sacrificed both family time and personal rest just to prepare.
Moreover, the publication’s former OCM highlighted her preparation methods, saying she was fortunate to enroll and take review classes for free at the RGO Psychology Review Center, where she started attending refresher and booster classes every weekend last October 2024. Like many examinees, she admitted feeling anxious about the results after completing the two-day board exam.
To seek comfort, she and her mother immediately attended the Holy Mass. “I thanked God for helping me survive the board exam. I also went back to the National Shrine of St. Jude in Manila to give thanks since I first visited the said church a month before the exam,” she shared.
Furthermore, another Bedan passer and former Editor-In-Chief of TBH Volume 29, Andrea Jermaine Del Mar from Batch 2024, shared how her encounters with children deepened her inspiration to pursue her profession.
“Every encounter with a child would make me realize that I have to study and learn more so that I can appropriately and professionally help them better,” she said, adding that the support she received from her family and friends became her constant source of motivation to push through.
Balancing work and review, however, was one of the challenges Del Mar faced, as she worked full-time from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday, before studying at night.
Del Mar elaborated on her academic preparation by reading simplified reviewers and a few chapters of books and attending lectures.
She practiced answering drills, which she described as essential in building her test-taking skills and evaluating her improvements. Drawing from psychology itself, she applied Pavlov’s conditioning into her habit, saying it helped her prepare for the actual examination.
Reflecting on her journey, Del Mar explained how her inspirations and challenges were closely intertwined: “I become inspired when I am challenged because I get to do better. Then, I am challenged when I become inspired because I would have to make sure that those inspirations live up to what I have to accomplish.”
While Medina and Del Mar spoke of their experiences, the passers credited SBCA for preparing them academically and emotionally for the licensure examination.
Medina said the institution’s motto, “Ora et Labora,” served as her guiding principle throughout her board examination journey. She shared that her journey to passing the exam required constant prayer and persistence. She noted that the lectures in college provided her with a strong foundation of knowledge that served as a guide during her preparation for the exam.
She added that her professors’ encouragement gave her confidence to push forward, saying this milestone is indeed “Para sa Diyos, sa Bayan at sa Kalusugang Pangkaisipan.”
Additionally, Del Mar gave light to the role of her professors in shaping her preparation for the examination: “As a student, SBCA played a significant role by providing me with psychology professors who helped me build the foundation in learning different concepts and theories, which helped me in preparing for the board examination.”
She also shared that the institution created a space for her to explore other areas and organizations, such as the college’s publication.
The college, professors, and student organizations celebrated this milestone alongside the new Bedan psychologists and psychometricians, marking another achievement for the SBCA community.
The Bedan Psychological Society is set to recognize and celebrate the recent success of the new Bedan Psychologists next month.
