THE Office of Student Affairs (OSA) held a meeting on Brand guidelines and organizational updates, bringing together student leaders from the independent, co-curricular, and extra-curricular organizations of the College last Oct. 9.
Led by Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Carl Michael Dela Cruz and Prefect of Student Activities Dr. Precy Baluarte, the meeting discussed matters including brand guidelines, off-campus policy, anti-hazing policy, and Lion’s Roar feedback, among others.
The OSA Memorandum, dated Sept. 22, 2026, and anchored in the Office of the Rector’s Executive Memorandum 04-2026-2027, mandates all student organizations, regardless of nature, to comply with the Student Organization Brand Guidelines and Visual Identity Manual.
The newly instituted Strategic Communications and Marketing Office (SCMO), headed by Mr. James Tolentino, Concurrent Athletics Head and Officer-in-Charge of the Corporate Communications Office of the College, will supervise the branding guidelines.
Under the memo, every student organization must now carry an approved descriptor tagline in its logo and on its official social media accounts. Profile pictures for each organization's social media pages must use the approved logo, while the provided descriptor tagline must appear on the organization’s banners.
Posters, announcements, or online promotions must make clear that the event is the organization’s own undertaking and must not attribute the entire event to SBCA. The College further restricted the use of its institutional marks, barring organizations from using the official SBCA seal or its primary marks in social media posts, printed materials, merchandise, and the like.
The use of the SBCA seal is now restricted to official institutional governance, executive directives, legal contracts, diplomas, and formal ceremonies led by the Office of the Rector. However, an exception applies to legislative documents issued by the Tertiary Student Executive Council, which remain subject to OSA endorsement and SCMO approval.
Organizations that have already produced organizational shirts, lanyards, or other memorabilia containing the SBCA seal are provided a one-year grace period to utilize the merchandise. Meanwhile, organizations in the design phase for their respective merchandise must submit their designs for review by the SCMO.
The guidelines also establish a three-step clearance process that all publication materials and other student collateral must complete before public release or print production.
The student organization concerned must first ensure that the SBCA seal is not included in the design, that the organization’s logo complies with logo standards, and that the mandatory descriptor tagline is present. The organization then submits its draft materials to OSA for review before they are forwarded to the SCMO for final approval.
On a separate matter, Prof. Dela Cruz touched on the recent CHED Memorandum Order governing off-campus activities, clarifying that the forms currently in use for such activities will remain in use. He mentioned that a dedicated orientation on the CMO will be held once the College is prepared to put it into effect.
The meeting also addressed the Lion’s Roar Awards, with student leaders offering feedback and recommendations to ensure that student organizations and outstanding individuals are recognized fairly for their achievements at the end of the academic year.
