THE San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) Men’s Volleyball team emerged victorious in their matchup with the University of Asia & the Pacific (UA&P) Volleyball Team last Apr. 22 at SBCA.

Starting off strong, UA&P won the first point in the game’s first set, but SBCA quickly advanced with an immediate six-point lead. The team’s opener, Harvey Yumol (IV-BSIT), delivered an impressive service, earning the last and final point that carried the team to victory for the first set.

SBCA prevailed again against UA&P during the second set with a score of 11-25. The last and final set had grown quite heated since the scores were often almost comparable to one another, but SBCA won with a five-point score difference, making them the overall winner.

THE BEDAN HERALD interviewed the winning team’s captain, John Gabriel Santos (IV-BACMS), about what the preparation process was like for their players. “This team really took some time to prepare because this is a rebuilding team. There are a lot of new players on the lineup [so] we had to be extra dedicated and committed,” Santos stated.

When asked about the team’s greatest motivation for this particular game, Santos said it was their recent loss against the University of Makati (UMAK). The team captain believed that “it could have resulted in a different outcome if we pushed ourselves a bit more.”

Santos had some motivational words for the team to share as the interview came to a close, “Go for gold! Continue to strive and work. Keep the hustle, grind, and great execution! And most of all, stay proud and disciplined.”
