AFTER five long years, Mr. and Ms. San Beda makes their comeback. Taking the title "Liyab ng Leon," the Student Executive Council (SEC) brings back a long-standing event within the tertiary levels as part of this year's Pista ng Sto. Niño 2024 celebration.
The pre-pageant took place at the Fr. Roberto de Jesus Hall, which was supposed to start at 1:30 p.m. but was pushed back to a later time and, instead, started at 4:02 p.m., making all students and guests wait. One parent of a student even asked why there was a three-hour delay.
This pageant's edition judges are Ms. Tisha Almerez, Ms. Gail Corquia, and Mr. Luis Carlo San Juan. They shall be solely responsible for deciding who will be crowned this year.
As part of the pageant, each candidate can share their advocacies close to their heart. Mental health, animal care, youth empowerment, inclusivity, quality education, and many more are some of the few advocacies mentioned.
Besides showcasing their beauty and wits, the candidates were also allowed to share their talents from singing, dancing, and rapping.
In his closing remarks, SEC Internal Vice President Jabez Favila (IV-BSP) emphasized that the candidates showcased their beauty, wits, talents, kindness, and outstanding character. "True beauty transcends to something superficial," Favila said.
The coronation night of this year's Mr. and Ms. San Beda will happen on Friday, Jan. 19.
