TO encourage the next generation of business owners and build a bridge between local entrepreneurs and the Bedan community, on Jan. 26, the Junior Bedan Marketing Association (JBMA) organized the highly anticipated ‘Community Service Event: Markonnect.’
The event kicked off with a Community Service Event at the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), featuring small businesses such as Hiyas, Bread by Berna, Eat Street, Sophia’s Yarn, and others. This provided a unique opportunity for small business owners to showcase their products and creativity.
The Entrepreneurial Seminar in Bellarmine Hall followed, hosted by Ernest Samson (II-BSBA-MM) and Marciana Valle (II-BSBA-MM). The first speaker, Sheika Anne O. Miranda, owns “Hiyas.ph” and is the JBMA first-year level representative. Miranda said, “Mahilig ako sa accessories, and during that time, nahihirapan akong humanap ng affordable na accessories.” This became her drive to start her own jewelry business. During her talk, she also gave the Marketing students advice on how to value clients and suppliers, maintain their competitiveness, and adjust to shifting market conditions.
SBCA alumnus Jedrick Christopher Aguilar, owner of "Balat Kayo Diyan" (BKD), shared how his business started in 2015, stressing the value of audience research, idea execution, and trend analysis.
Aguilar urged students to embrace chances and take risks, pointing out that they are essential to the growth of businesses. “Huwag na ‘wag kayong matatakot mag risk. Risk is part of business. Ano naman kung mag fail kayo, diba? Hindi ba pwedeng sumubok ulit?” Aguilar said.
Markonnect successfully established a platform that enhanced the entrepreneurial mind and inspired Bedan Marketistas.
