THE Junior Financial Executives (JFINEX) celebrated “Building Towards a Brighter Future” as the theme for their general assembly last Aug. 21 at Rosendo Herrera Hall.

“Financial management is a powerful tool that can be used to drive positive change in the world,” Dr. Emmanuel D. Evangelista, Department Chair of Business Administration and Entrepreneurship, said in his opening remarks. He expressed his confidence in everyone's potential to achieve greater things for themselves and the community they seek to serve.

Atty. Juan Ruffo D. Chong, Dean of the School of Business, Accountancy, and Management, mentioned in his address his hope for positive change to be brought about by JFINEX in outside communities. He encourages them to organize activities beyond the campus's confines “Along the lines of corporate social responsibility and try to affect meaningful change.”

As for Dr. Andres Ignacio C. San Mateo, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), advised the members to do their best, never compete with others, and continue to take care of their organization. “From there, you will be able to see that there are certain things that we are able to achieve,” he said.

After the three speakers followed the oath-taking of the seventeen new officers of JFINEX, assigned to lead the organization to greater heights this year, the event finished with the newly appointed JFINEX president’s address.

Keila Juanico (IV-BSBA-FM), the president, discussed JFINEX’s calendar of activities for the academic year. The three objectives she had for the planned activities were “saving, investing, and spending.” She shared their finance-related events, such as “Financial Trivia”, to help the students with financial literacy. Another event Juanico highlighted is “Financial Escape Rooms,” an event that aims to encourage strategic thinking and problem-solving.

More notable events set in place for the year include “Alumni as a Student Leader,” which will allow students to listen to other alumni’s leadership experiences. They also plan to have “Finance Family Feud,” which is meant to be a game investing in collaborative learning. Another event planned is the “Financial Fashion Show Challenge,” which is a creative way to spend time and energy on self-expression while connecting it to certain financial themes.

The general assembly concluded with a message from Juanico about the theme for her term, “Unleash,” focusing on the importance of daring to dream where JFINEX is thriving and leading the way.
