THE Student Executive Council (SEC) held its much-anticipated event for the first semester, Integration 2025, with the theme “Pelikulang Pinoy, Bida ang Bedista,” held last  Oct. 11, at the Fr. Bellarmine Baltasar Gymnasium, which perfectly captured the Filipino storytelling, creativity, and solidarity of the Bedan Community.

Integration 2025, hosted by Kara Catap (II-BACMS) and Chrije Casanova (I-BSIE), opened with a dynamic performance from the PEP Band and Senior Varsity Cheerleading Squad, delivering chants like “Go San Beda Fight” and the Indian Yell.

In her welcoming remarks , Dr. Precy Baluarte,  Prefect of Activities, reminds everyone that this is more than just an event; it is a celebration of the Benedictine Spirit of the Bedan community, the friendships built, and the sense of belonging. “It's about building bridges, forming friendships, and creating a shared experience that will shape our journey, your journey throughout,” she said.

Bedistas stepped into the center of the gym, channeling the magic of Pelikulang Pinoy through their performances, reflecting the department’s assigned respective films, while also featuring intermission numbers from Himig Bedista, Teatro Bedista, Bedanz Dance Troupe, and SBCA Athletes.

Judged by Prof. Cynthia M. Manalo, Mr. Eric P. Sindol, and Ms. Kirby Sebastianne D. Calañgi, the event featured three categories: Best Teaser, Battlecry, and Song and Dance performance. Each course took on the challenge of recreating a teaser from their assigned Pinoy film, creating battle cries inspired by their movies that incorporate the Bedan Chant and the Indian Yell, and performing a dynamic song and dance performance featuring music from their films. Another category, the People’s Choice Awards, was given to the teaser with the most number of likes.

Many programs stood tall and proud in this competition, featuring seasoned winners like the Psychology Department, wielding their symbolic tridents and a collection of trophies, ready to defend their reign in the battle for victory.

Not to be outdone, Legal Management and One Business Management (ONEBM), composed of students from the departments of Marketing Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, and Entrepreneurship, vowed to take back their crowns.

The participating departments embodied their respective well-loved Filipino Films, with ONEBM depicting “She’s Dating A Gangster,” the Psychology Department with “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” Legal Management Department with “Got 2 Believe,” Accountancy Department with “The Gifted,” the School of Engineering and Technology with “Starting Over Again,” and Team ICE composed of International Studies, Communication, and Media Studies, and Education Department students  with “Four Sisters and a Wedding.”

This year’s winners lit up the stage with outstanding performances across the board. For Best Teaser, the ONEBM Students proudly claimed the award, while Team ICE captured the People’s Choice Award

In a heated showdown in the Battlecry category, ONEBM claimed the crown, a title they held four years previously, halting the Psychology Department’s impressive quest for a four-peat as the former champions settled for First Runner-Up, while Team ICE secured the Second Runner-Up.

Lastly, the Sing and Dance competition saw the Legal Management Department steal the show, triumphantly taking home the championship after three long years, breaking their championship drought, proving that they still have the skills to dominate the stage. ONEBM clinched first runner-up, while Psychology continues to retain a podium finish at second runner-up.

In an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD, Iva Angela M. Santiago (II-BSBA MM), JBMA Internal Associate and the head of props and costumes from ONEBM shares and reflects on their winning formula: “I believe what we have was really the bond that we have with the freshies. They were welcome, they were full of love, and we were all fully supportive… I think all of those were the biggest factors of how we won.” Santiago underscores that beyond the trophies and prizes, the deepest victory was in growth and friendship built through their hard work and dedication.

Juliana Alyssa Dela Pea (I-BSLM), who played the female lead “Toni” in Legal Management’s Sing and Dance performance, reflects on the deeper victories gained from the event. “The bond and memories we had during those practices, the friendship and bonds strengthened through rehearsals and performance.” For Dela Pea, the win was a powerful validation of their relentless rehearsals and teamwork, inspiring not just her batchmates but other students to push their creative limits.

These voices reveal that Integration 2025 was more than just a competition; it was a journey of unity, passion, and shared triumphs that echoed the Bedan Community’s enduring spirit.
