THE Consortium of the South (CotS) Research Committee for Faculty held its 2nd International Faculty Research Conference at Tugade Auditorium on March 7, bringing together faculty members from various colleges to share their latest studies and insights.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Rev. Father Gerardo Ma. De Villa, OSB, setting the tone for a day focused on collaboration and scholarly exchange.
Dr. Maria Kathleen C. Tiglao of the CotS Research Committee then introduced the participating colleges which included Southville International School, PATTS College of Aeronautics, Laguna College of Business and Arts, Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba, Olivarez College, Immaculate Heart of Mary College Parañaque, and San Beda College Alabang, highlighting the diverse range of studies being conducted across various disciplines.
The international keynote speaker, Dr. Lucia S. Lin, was introduced by Ms. Diwata A. Macatangay-Vibora, Ma and delivered a keynote address on Ethical Leadership in Education. Sr Lucia emphasized the “importance of integrity, responsibility, and moral guidance in academic settings”.
The plenary session featured an introduction by a guest speaker from India, Dr. Ruel A. Cajii, followed by a lecture by Dr. N. Sudha Bhuvaneswari, who shared insights on global research trends and their practical applications.
Faculty members then participated in a poster procession, presenting their studies to attendees and encouraging discussion across disciplines. Dr. Ma. Lorena M. Tagala delivered the Synthesis of the Day, emphasizing the event’s multi-disciplinary approach and the value of collaborative research.
In his closing remarks, Brian Ben C. Coronel, MA, encouraged participants to bring back more than just data and research findings to their offices.
“Aside from the facts, data, and information you have obtained here today, I hope that you will also bring back to your respective offices the spirit of unity and collaboration,” he said.
The program concluded with the turnover of hosting duties from San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) to PATTS College of Aeronautics, ensuring continuity for next year’s conference.
