SBCA Women's Volleyball team falls short against DLSL

By Nathan Manaog |  June 19, 2024

PULSING with excitement, an intense showdown between De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) and San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) faced off in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) South Season 25 Men’s Volleyball match last June 17. DLSL dominated the game through their exceptional skill and strategy, earning a straight 3-0 set victory over SBCA.

At the beginning of the game, DLSL outscored SBCA with a score of 17-25 in the first set. Even with the Red Lions’ efforts to catch up, it was still no match for the Green Archers' powerful attacks and dominant blocks, giving them the upper hand.

SBCA missed many opportunities to gain points against their opponent in the second set, which ended in a 15-25 score. Most were due to their inability to block La Salle’s forceful hits. Despite SBCA’s attempts to regain momentum by launching powerful spikes and defensive blocks, DLSL maintained their victory with a straight-set sweep, 25-19 in the third set.

Reflecting on the outcome, Jude Adbao (II-BSBA-HRM) expressed his mixed emotions, acknowledging the team’s disappointment for not securing a win in their final game. "Today's game was not the game that I expected," Abdao mentioned in an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD. We all knew that we could win this match; however, mapaglaro talaga [ang] tadhana."

"Our last game was really a slap on our faces because now we know that the team was not in sync with one another," Abdao said. Although this was a tough loss for SBCA, this season was still an incredible learning journey for the Red Lions and a big help for next year's NCAA South.
