CEGP-NCR’s FUTURE OF MEDIA: Day 2

By Mary S. Endo | April 15, 2024

DILIMAN — On April 8th, the College Editors Guild of the Philippines — National Capital Region (CEGP-NCR) convened for its second day of seminar and workshop with the theme, "Future of Media," focusing on investigative journalism's role in combating disinformation and bolstering independent media.

"FUTURE OF MEDIA" is headed by the CEGP-NCR, in collaboration with Tudla Productions and the National Union of the Students of the Philippines-National Capital Region (NUSP-NCR).

Media Today correspondent and news editor, Roy Barbosa spearheaded the discussion on investigative journalism. As the regional coordinator for CEGP-NCR in 2020, Barbosa has strengthened campus journalism, especially during the pandemic.

During his presentation, Barbosa emphasized that as writers, "we intend to get their [people's] stories, knowing what we can do, and our limitations." He challenged the notion of objective journalism, explaining that perceptions and stances inherently inject subjectivity into reporting.

The day's events concluded with the election for the executive committee of CEGP-NCR.
