TO promote camaraderie, the Junior People Management Association of the Philippines (JPMAP) hosted a Human Resource (HR) Carnival last Oct. 22 in the Multipurpose Hall, with the theme “HR Carnival: Join the Fun, Build the Team!”
“Ang pinaka gusto namin gawin talaga is collaborate all student orgs as well as the students, to foster collaboration within the Bedan community,” Deo Miguel De Vera (II-HRM), Internal Vice President, emphasized that they wanted to start the year with a big event.
Tertiary School organizations such as the Junior Bedan Marketing Association (JBMA), Teatro Bedista, Junior Bedan Law Circle (JBLC), Bedan Psychological Society (BPS), Bedan Information Technology Society (BITS), Bedan International Studies Association (BISA), Eureka, and Bedan Liturgical Ministries (BLM)were present during the event, presenting booths that offered mini-games and prizes. HR Carnival also offered mobile stands for drinks, ice cream, and cotton candy, as well as a photo booth.
In his opening remarks during the opening ceremony, Dr. Andres Ignacio C. San Mateo, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), emphasized the importance of upcoming activities, “I hope that the particular activities that you have for the next three days will strengthen our Visiting Scholar & Postdoc Affairs (VSPA) program.” To conclude, the VPAA encouraged everyone to forge connections and enjoy the HR Carnival.
Filipino actor, comedian, and model, John Ross ‘Joross’ Gamboa, was also present as the special guest at the carnival.
The onslaught of Typhoon Kristine forced class suspensions, and the event was cut short. Eventually, JPMAP resumed the HR carnival on Oct. 28 and concluded the fantastic race the following day.
The amazing race occurred around the grounds of the SBCA campus. After numerous challenges, JBMA was declared the champion after numerous challenges, while BISA and JBLC were first and second runner-ups, respectively. JBLC was also awarded the best booth, followed by JBMA in second place and Eureka and BLM in third place.
In an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD, Jholhaimen Dimaporo (II-HRM), President, shared that “through the Amazing Race, JPMAP aims for participants to strengthen their teamwork skills, experience real-life HR challenges in a fun and engaging way, and foster a sense of camaraderie among students and HR professionals.”
He emphasized that the participants would gain valuable insights into effective collaboration and develop a deeper appreciation of teamwork's impact on achieving shared goals. Dimaporo concludes that JPMAP wants to contribute to the Bedan community by fostering collaboration and empowering our student leaders.
Moving forward, JPMAP intends to be a partner of success for all organizations in the SBCA and plans to make the HR Carnival an annual event. Dimaporo highlighted that they filled their calendar with fun and meaningful events that foster collaboration and serve as a stepping stone for their fellow HR students.
