THE Bedan Psychological Society (BPS) held its First Semester General Assembly for A.Y. 2026 - 2027 last July 29 at the Rosendo Herrera Hall, with the theme of Mamma Mia: The Musical. The program highlighted the organization’s projects and events for the semester. 

Prof. Michelle Macahilig, RPsy, BPS  moderator and department chair of the Psychology department, opened the program by welcoming attendees and encouraging students to make the most of the assembly and the upcoming semester. 

Hosted by Miguel de Guzman (III-BSP), the Vice President for Logistics, and Haniel Mizukami (III-BAP), the Vice President for Communications, the assembly introduced the newly elected BPS officers for this academic year. The position of First-Year Level Representative remains open for a special election.

BPS also expanded its organizational structure by introducing two new committees. The Operations-Technical Committee will oversee technical requirements during events, while the Secretariat Committee will handle registration and documentation.

BPS President Reign Rafinan (IV-BSP), presented the slated projects and activities of the organization for the first semester. Among the scheduled events is the Senior’s Pinning Ceremony, which will be held in August at the Tugade Auditorium.

Furthermore, ongoing projects such as “Conversations we never had”, headed by Secretary A, Kareema de Guzman (III-BSP),  were introduced as an online platform where Psykhelites can share their anonymous thoughts, which are later posted on the BPS Facebook page. Complementing this is “Salin Sabi,” a monthly themed reel series that reflects relevant advocacies and events, such as Social Wellness Month, to promote awareness and participation among members.

BPS also launched, “Psych Kamustahan 2.0” an anonymous feedback platform for Psykhelites to voice personal, academic, or organizational concerns. The initiative allows members to express themselves without hesitation, with the option to receive responses through text should they choose to leave their contact details.

From August to September, BPS will conduct a seminar entitled “One BPS”, a leadership seminar for Psychology students. Meanwhile, preparations for Psychological Association of the Philippines Junior Affiliates (PAPJA) 2026 will take form through a series of events such as quiz bees and song-making contests. Winners from these activities will represent the organization and the College in the 40th Annual PAPJA convention.

The organization also introduced “Psych Chronicles”, a transparency initiative that will make memoranda and organizational reports available through online platforms and the organization’s physical bulletin board.

Meanwhile, Daniel Taban (IV-BSP), External Vice President, introduced “Meant For You”, a seminar aimed at exploring different fields in psychology in collaboration with the School of Law and the School of Medicine.

The officers also opened recruitment for the Tertiary School’s integration celebration, encouraging Psychology freshmen to join by highlighting the organization’s previous achievements, including being named 1st Runner-Up for Battle Cry and 2nd Runner-Up for the Sing and Dance competitions.

According to the officers, the assembly drew one of the organization’s largest turnouts in recent years, filling the Rosendo Hall for the first time in two years. “It's for that reason na we could say our first general assembly was a success,” said Jaijai Octavo (III-BAP), 3rd Year Level Representative. 

In an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD, Taban expressed that the new initiatives are designed to enhance the competitive standing of San Beda College Alabang - Tertiary School. “We wanted this initiative to push our members out of their comfort zones and open more opportunities for growth by exposing them to different environments and experiences,” he expressed.

On the other hand, Rafinan expressed her thanks to the Psychology professors present in the assembly, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), and everyone who made an effort towards the completion of the program. “Maraming salamat for choosing this calling. Hindi man ito ang pinakamadaling landas, I truly believe it is one of the most meaningful,” she said.
