THE Bedanz Dance Troupe–Alabang (BDTA) once again captivated audiences as they clinched their second consecutive championship at the Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) Season 56 Street Dance Competition held last Jan. 25, 2026, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Manila.
The Stage Of Collegiate Excellence
The competition brought together teams that showcased a fusion of grace, precision, and creativity. In attendance were participating schools such as the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), Centro Escolar University (CEU), Philippine Women’s University (PWU), Miriam College (MC), University of Makati (UMAK), Assumption College (AC), and St. Scholastica’s College (SSC).
The Stage Was Set
The Bedanz Queenz wasted no time showcasing a brilliant performance marked by remarkable execution and seamless transitions that immediately set them apart from the rest of the competition—featuring songs like Honeymoon Avenue, Yes, And?, and, Positions by Ariana Grande in their routines, supported by the SBCA Pep Band, blended power and movements with musicality that further showcased a lasting impression on both the audience and the judges.
Competing in the senior division, BDTA emerged on top after being evaluated under the official WNCAA judging criteria, which emphasized execution, choreography, musical interpretation, and overall impact. Their performance ultimately secured them the crown, marking their second straight championship in the competition.
Voices Behind The Victory
In an interview with THE BEDAN HERALD, BDTA President Zoe Sua-an (IV-BACMS) highlighted the commitment required of the Queenz leading up to the competition, as well as their perseverance that stood strong.
“But the number one rule for everyone was to do it for the community. Do it for yourself kasi minsan na lang tayo mag-perform sa ganitong kalaking stage kaya manalo or matalo, basta napakita namin yung pinaghirapan namin the last few months,” she said.
“Sa sarili lang ang tingin kahit ano mangyari, alam namin sa sarili namin na ginawa namin makakaya namin sa stage,” she emphasized
BDTA Coach John Alvin echoed this sentiment, crediting the dancers’ commitment and resilience throughout their preparation.
He shared that the two consecutive championships held significance for him as a coach. Despite taking proper breaks in between, he explained the complexity of choreographing and complicated blockings made it a challenge for the team.
“You look at ourselves on what we were able to produce, you consider yourself the standard. This is the WNCAA; this is a national competition. I always make the whole team solidify the standard by looking at themselves—their circle is the standard,” he emphasized.
A Legacy of Excellence
With another championship added to their record, BDTA reinforced the College’s strong presence in performance-based collegiate sports. Their victory not only showcased technical excellence but also underscored the passion and dedication behind every routine.
As the 56th WNCAA season continues, the Bedanz Queens’ triumph sets a high standard for street dance competition, inspiring both current and future collegiate dancers to pursue excellence on and off the stage.
