THE Communication and Media Studies (CMS) department launched ‘Kwentong COMMunidad’ last Aug. 22 at Rosendo Herrera Hall. Along with the oath-taking ceremony of their newly elected officers of the Beda.Comm, the co-curricular organization of the CMS department.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Gino Antonio Rivera III, MS, CMS department chair, curated reminders for each year level. He advised the first-year students to enjoy the process, emphasized entering a higher level of education for the second-year students, reminded the third-year students about their production subjects, and stressed the fourth-year students to fix their lives along with their thesis and internship. "I'm hoping you to maximize your stay in college," he ended.

Other opportunities for CMS students were also introduced, including TatakBedistaTV. Em Endo (IV-BACMS), the desk and supervising producer of TatakBedistaTV and the Editor-in-Chief of THE BEDAN HERALD, mentioned that this would be a bigger, better, and more compelling year. She announced that TatakBedistaTV will collaborate with the official student publication of the Tertiary Schools, The Bedan Herald, for integrated journalism.

It was also announced by Angelo Silva (IV-BACMS), a producer of Tunog Bedista, that Tunog Bedista, a channel for radio, podcasts, and music production, will have its official launch this year.

Then, Prof. Rivera III led the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected officers of Beda.Comm. This was followed by the discussion of this year’s pipeline, led by Ymmanuel Torres (IV-BACMS), president.

Torres presented the new CMS theme for this year, “Kwentong COMMunidad: Ating COMMunidad, Kwento, at Kinabukasan.” She also introduced and explained Beda.Comm’s storytelling initiative that focuses on inclusive education and narratives of the community with the #SeedStories.

According to the Beda.Comm president, the #SeedStories symbolizes the impactful stories of the youth, education, and community. Aiming to grow their love for learning and spread impactful narratives in the community, ensuring future fruitful growth, just like a seed that spreads and grows.

The CMS department began its year with a profound CMS Hangout and concluded it by yelling the CMS chant, “Stand above the rest, CMS the best!”
