LAST Dec. 6, the Center for Performing Arts (CFPA) held its Christmas Concert and Grand Launch at the Fr. Roberto De Jesus Auditorium, St. Maur Building. The event, themed “All Is Calm, All Is Bright,” united the talents of the San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) student body and faculty and the CFPA community in a celebration of art, music, and dance.
Setting the Christmas Spirit
The program commenced with a performance by the SBCA Dance Company and CFPA members, leaving the audience at the edge of their seats with loud and surprising twists. Soon after, it was followed with welcoming remarks from Rector-President Fr. Gerardo Ma. De Villa OSB emphasized the power of the Filipino spirit during the Christmas season. He also said that the event not only shows the skills and talent of the students in arts but, most importantly, the contribution to the incoming Christmas Spirit.
The event continued with a video about the CFPA Organization’s experiences and journey. There was a wide range of performances. Mr. Anthony Fernandez had a musical pipe organ recital, while Ms. Regina Borja accompanied the violin and piano, and Ms. Allison Cervantes sang with CFPA's voice teacher. The program also featured collaborative acts, such as the Tertiary Schools Chorale and Teatro Bedista, who previewed their OPM Jukebox Musical set for February 2025.
As the program approached its conclusion, performers took their final bows, accompanied by the audience’s applause. The finale included a segment of appreciation for the dancers, singers, musicians, and the CFPA Artists.
A Milestone for CFPA
The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for CFPA, with their vision setting ambitious goals for the future. Ms. Cheribin Cruz, CFPA Administrator, announced that Ms. Danielle Parillas is the Gawad Rektor 2024 and was awarded a trophy. Parillas then performed a song thanking the SBCA and CFPA Community.
Dr. Ma. Kathleen C. Tiglao, Director of CFPA, concluded the event, stating her insights throughout the program and thanking the audiences and valued guests with utmost gratitude.
