CONTESTANTS from various departments took center stage as they showcased themselves to present their main advocacies and talents for the Mr. and Ms. San Beda pre-pageant held at the St. Maur Auditorium last Jan. 14.
Organized by the Student Executive Council (SEC), 12 contestants representing six departments in the Tertiary Schools participated in this year's pageant.
After opening remarks from the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Andres Ignacio San Mateo, Jr, and an inspirational message from School, Business, Accountancy, and Management Dean Atty. Juan Ruffo D. Chong, JSD, candidates expressed their own advocacies close to their hearts—encompassing diverse causes such as promoting HIV awareness, mental health, PWD Inclusivity, animal shelter, empowering youth communities, children with special needs, responsible voting, and upholding fair legal systems.
Subsequently, audiences were engaged during the talent portion as the Marketing Management and Legal Management candidates performed a sing-and-dance number. Communication and Media Studies presented a short-acting skit followed by a sing-and-dance performance. Accountancy performed a singing duet, International Studies presented a formal slow dance, and Psychology performed a spoken word piece on mental health.
To formally conclude the event, Prof. Roma Wynn C. Sedo, Dean for Students Affairs, delivered her closing remarks. She emphasized in her speech, “This pre-pageant has shown us that the Red Throne is not just a symbol of honor; it represents the dedication, resilience, and excellence our Bedan community stands for.”
The competition will resume on Coronation Day, January 17, at 7:30 PM at the SBCA Football Field, where the new Mr. and Ms. San Beda will be crowned.
