A Stand for Standards

By She Loves Me Wisely Not| February 14, 2022

AS the month of February comes to an end, reminiscing the joys of spending Valentine's Day with your loved one will truly be remembered every year. Whether single or taken during Valentine’s Day, each of us has their own standards when it comes to choosing their partners whether they are the exact epitome of our ideal types or they are just lovable that you tend to ignore your standards because you don’t want to waste your chances on falling in love. And that’s fine, because we must never settle for less.

Reiterating the trendy quote “He/She may be a red flag, but I’m color blind”, it might seem funny but we know how to distinguish a person that is qualified to be our partner from those who are not. And with that, choosing wisely becomes our main strategy.

This coming May, the 2022 elections are set to happen and it has been a hot topic everywhere, whether it is through national news or social media - there has been nonstop discussions. Although I will not tell who not to vote, as citizens, we must choose our candidates just as how we choose our partners. It may seem silly, but we shouldn’t ignore the fact that we cannot let our standards be high in choosing the person that we will date and keep it to a bare minimum when choosing our candidates. They may not be our Valentine, but they are the ones that will lead us into the future, just like how our future husbands/wives will be our partners in the future ahead.

Just like in dating, we judge a person based on their interests, personality, likes, dislikes, accomplishments, achievements and etc. because we want someone that will be the best for us. In choosing candidates, we can do the same: ignoring their name, who they are, from what family they are from and just looking at their platforms as it is, their accomplishments, their track records, their performance as public servants. We too, can choose the people who will lead us into a brighter future. Whether it is about love or not, you know what they say when something or someone is desirable, “Sana all”.
