CORA and SBCA continue collaboration toward Environmental Management and Protection

LAST Oct. 11, the Memorandum of Agreement signifying the continued partnership between San Beda College Alabang and Communities Organized for Resource Allocation (CORA) was signed by Prof. Carlo Tinio, NSTP Coordinator, and Antoinette Taus, actress and founder of CORA, along with SBCA Rotaract Executive President, Therese Yap (IV-BSBA-FM), who is working part-time on CORA, serving as witness. The agreement not only impacts SBCA but also the student organizations on campus, such as Rotaract, as it moves forward to future projects where it involves CORA.

Unity in Diversity celebrated in SBCA’s Model United Nations

“HISTORY shows that embracing diversity and common values has often been the foundation of lasting peace, inspiring hope for a more united future,” Rev. Fr. Gerardo Ma. D. De Villa, OSB spoke in his opening remarks for the SBCA Model United Nations IV (MUN), exemplifying the heart of the event, harmony between nations. The MUN is a three-day yearly event where student delegates simulate diplomacy between nations through debates and discussions to create solutions to prevailing issues. This year’s MUN was held last Oct. 6-8.

“IKULONG na ‘yan mga kurakot!” is the continuous chant of students, journalists, workers, religious groups, and artists—almost 100,000 citizens of the Philippines all around the country. Sept. 21 no longer only commemorates the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law but also represents the thousands of Filipinos demanding political accountability.

Demolitions in Muntinlupa, leave residents displaced and nowhere to stay

LAST Sept. 8, demolishers of Ayala Steel Manufacturing Co. Inc. arrived to uproot the lives of the homeless taking refuge in the Immaculate Concepcion Compound (ICC) in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City. Chaos erupts as the demolition began, and after residents protest against the demolition, tension ran high as the demolishers quickly turn violent. Despite pressure from the media and questions of rights violation, the demolition continued on the ICC Compound.
